PROJECT
H.E.L.P. (H-ealing
, E-mpowerment, L-ove
P-rotection) is
a domestic violence prevention and intervention program,
an initiative designed to heighten public awareness and empower domestic
violence victims and survivors.
Available
to families in east Flatbush and surrounding areas, here's a list of some
of the services offered:

What You Need To Know
Domestic
Violence describes abusive behavior—emotional, psychological, physical,
sexual or financial—that one person in an intimate relationship uses in
other to control the other.
WHAT
SHOULD YOU DO?
AND
HOW CAN YOU HELP PREVENT OR STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
TYPES
OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:

Physical—hitting,
pushing, choking and making angry
threats to you or your family.

Psychological—insults,
threats, public humiliation, intimidating,
ignoring, blaming, accusing, manipulating,
yelling and isolating.

Emotional—attack
on self esteem; criticized in destructive ways; public embarrassment or
humiliation.

Sexual—forces
you to have degrading sexual acts against
your will.
-
Financial—refuse
to let you work; undermine or interfere
with your work or career.
-
Spiritual—using
religious or spiritual beliefs to manipulate you; preventing
you from practicing your religious or
spiritual beliefs.

outbursts of anger or rage!

Denying
of access to family assets such as bank accounts,
credit cards or car!

Being
forced to have sex against your will or sexual acts you do not enjoy!

insulted or called derogatory racial or sexual
